Help us grow...

This site is a honest, helpful, and freely accessible guide to Sri Lanka. No ads, no paywalls, no sponsored rankings. Just useful information for people who want to explore this island properly.

It takes a surprising amount of time and effort to keep something like this going - researching, writing, fact-checking, building, and maintaining it all while making sure it actually stays useful for real travelers. That’s where you come in.

You don’t have to do everything. Even one of these makes a real difference.

The most valuable thing anyone can offer is first-hand knowledge. If you’ve traveled Sri Lanka or you live there, you probably know things that no amount of desk research can replace.

  • Spot something outdated or wrong? Flag it.
  • Know a hidden gem, a better route, or a local tip worth sharing? Send it in.
  • Confident writer? Pages like Food & Eats and Trip Plans need the most love right now.

The site is open source and built with Astro Starlight. If you’re a developer and you spot a bug, a broken layout, or an accessibility issue — pull requests are very welcome. Even small fixes matter.

Got an idea for a feature? Open an issue and let’s talk about it.

SriGuide has built in i18n localization capabilities, which means we can add your native language here pretty much easily! Please avoid machine translations (ex: Google Translate/DeepL).

  • English (Main Language)
  • Spanish [Español] (Currently I am working on it, but since I am not a native speaker I would greatly appreciate if someone can help with translations)
  • Your Language Here

Send a quick email here if you’re interested!

Honest feedback shapes this more than anything else. Is the site confusing to navigate? Is something missing that you expected to find? Did something genuinely help you plan your trip?

All of it is useful — good and bad.

Running a site, even a small one has costs: the domain, hosting, tools, and honestly just the hours. If this site helped you plan a better trip to Sri Lanka and you’d like to say thanks, a coffee goes a long way toward keeping it going.

There’s no subscription, no tier, no expectation. Purely if you want to.

This one costs nothing and might be the most powerful one on this list. If you found this useful - mention it. Share the link with a friend planning a Sri Lanka trip. Post it in a travel group, add it to a forum thread, recommend it in a subreddit…

Here’s a look at what’s left on the list — I’ll cross things off (and remove) as they get done:

  • Complete Quick Essentials page
  • Complete Apps page
  • Make the web app installable & fully offline
  • Complete Spanish translations
  • Complete section: Food & Eats
  • Complete section: Things to Do
  • Complete section: Trip Plans
  • Complete section: Where to Stay
  • Finish remaining destination and activity category pages
  • Find real visitors and survey volunteers

If something you needed wasn’t here yet — that’s exactly why this page exists.

Thank you for being here and for reading this far. The idea behind this project is to provide real facts in one place so you won’t get frustrated with browsing or chatting with AI (which you cannot TRUST!). Every person who contributes a little, helps make that real.
